Week 7: Learning Unreal Engine 4

With the latest developments in 3D game design I was very interested in seeing how developers went about creating those kind of games. The 3D printing classes were one way to practice 3D design but video games required a different approach to modelling that I wasn’t used familiar with. So I chose to try out Unreal Engine 4. It’s free with a plethora of free content to practice with. Furthermore, many games I’ve played were created with that software. Dontnod Entertainment developed Remember Me and the recent Life is Strange games. Arkane Studios made Dishonored. Bioware created Mass Effect series. So I knew what it was capable of in terms of graphics and interactive play.

However, the experience turned out less than fun because of one major problem – finding up-to-date learning resources. It’s simply frustrating to have to go through numerous links that end up for older versions. The official video tutorials are already too…
