Dice Island

A game is a machine used to tell a story, therefore the narrative of a game is vital to the playability of the game. Games generally have a three-part narrative, being Set Up, Game Play and Conclusion. Through group discussion in class, our group decided to focus the narrative of our game on being stranded on a deserted island and trying to build a craft to get off the island and return to civilisation.

Set up is integral as this is where the narrative is established, rules are agreed upon and understood. Through our discussion, we established that the narrative of our game is to begin by establishing that the 2-4 players have survived a plane crash and are now stranded on a deserted island, there are tools, weapons, shelter, and other supplies they can use scattered amongst the wreckage across the island.
