FANTASMATHS, A GAME FOR THE KIDS

During the course of this week, my group and I have configured the behind the scenes process of a board game prototype called Fantasmaths. Fantasmaths is the combination of a quest and maths game, centred around education and targeted for children ages 9-12. Referring to maths games the NCTM states that “they afford opportunities for students to deepen their mathematical understanding and reasoning. Games give students opportunities to explore fundamental number concepts, such as the counting sequence, one-to-one correspondence, and computation strategies.” The aim of the game is to firstly choose a character and compete the in game quests which involve adding numbers in hopes of receiving the closest number to the one suggested in the quest.
