After reading the comments that I received on my initial pitch for the digital artefact, I’ve decided to approach my research in three stages: Historical context of difficulty in video games, examples of elitism associated with playing difficult/challenging games, and an analysis on what elitism says about the gaming culture. Originally I planned on looking at how elitism effects the industrial side of gaming (e.g. whether games sell more because they are difficult), however, that will be merely anecdotal at this point because I would like to focus more on the culture around elitism in gaming.
