We all know and love Mario and Luigi. If you are the small minority who doesn’t, let me give them a quick introduction. Mario and Luigi are fraternal, Italian-American twin’s. Both originally portrayed as plumbers, living in Brooklyn, Mario and Luigi have gone on to feature in majority of the Nintendo games. My aim throughout this blog post is to understand cultural stereotypes in gaming, I feel as though Mario and Luigi are a great example in representing this as I believe they highlight and perhaps over exaggerate the Italian culture. In this blog post I will use different methods of research that will perhaps challenge or affirm this assumption.
