Going through my collection of tabletop and board games, I’ve acquired a variety of social deduction and point-based games over the course of experimenting with new and unfamiliar types of products. I’ve arrived to the conclusion in ideating a social deduction game involving cards, illustrations, and existing game mechanics based on the level of involvement I find when playing such games or alternatively by stemming from point-based games as inspiration. Social deduction games each have an element of hidden information amongst players (The Games Capital, 2018), which I find to be the most engaging as you and the other players have to uncover a ‘truth’ against the opposing team. With point-based games, I find the competitive element to be a driving force among most individuals as a reality.
