My contribution to my group game project is quite varied, much like that of my team members. Throughout the design of our game we very much took a collaborative approach when designing the game and ideating.
We have split up the requirements for the presentation into four sections – delegating one to each person. My focus is the game experience genre and the target audience.
The concept for our game is a relatively simple roll and move style board game with optional drinking challenge add ons with the theme of clubbing. In terms of genre we could categorise our game by game goals or mechanics. I particularly like the categorisation of genre based on mechanics, the preferred approach of Parlett who refers to this as ‘game families’.
