Aliens: Colonial Marines (2013)

Aliens: Colonial Marines was released in February of 2013. It was published by Sega and developed by Gearbox Software and TimeGate Studios. So why did it flop? Primarily due to a series of poor choices.

Number 1: Gearbox Software contracted the game out to TimeGate

In 2006, Sega acquired the license to the Alien franchise, originally planning on releasing two games. The first was a RPG (role playing game in which players assume the role of a character in a fictional setting and take responsibility for any actions that this character makes) and the second was a first person shooter game. Ultimately, they decided against creating an RPG and instead just began making a first person shooter game: Alien: Colonial Marines.
