EA was awarded the worst company in America for 2012 and 2013 by Consumerist. Reasons were the company’s “history of pumping out products, or rushing games through development, in order to cash in on a brand name” and selling games for unreasonably high prices.

In September 2014, The Sims 4 was released, and the game was practically empty in terms of content.

In Mirko Ernkvist’s Down Many Times, but Still Playing the Game, they discuss the 1983 video game crash, when the world saw a drastic decline in the video game economy. There are many theories behind why this decline happened, but one of the reasons Ernkvist lists is “the public criticism that video games received”(Ernkvist, 2008).
