Habbo hotel primed itself as a social world building game created by a finnish company Sulake. The hotel opened its virtual doors in 2000, paving the way for the convergence of digital games and online social communication ahead of its time. With its quirky vintage pixel art, it accumulated over millions of users worldwide in the last 21 years.

Habbo hotel Australia shut its doors temporarily in 2009 to allow the merge to American servers – due to low user count. It was accessed through web browser and powered through the flash player engine, which will cease to exist by 2021 and replaced by UNITY.

Personally, this was when I and many others stopped playing for good. 15 years later we revisit the legacy of Habbo hotel.
