My chosen analytical framework was:

  • The role that fandom and pop culture play in the development of game modification
  • How mods contribute to the lifespan of the game and if they impact the games downloadable content
  • How modifications as a form paratext influence user behaviour and reception of the game

The reason I chose the Sims 4 is because it is a game I am very familiar with and I find the use of modifications in my own gameplay enhances my overall experience of the game and wanted to examine the factors that lead to their creation. Additionally in BCM241 last year I created a digital artefact that examined the pros and cons of user generated content in the games.
